What are India’s 4 new Labour Codes and when did they take effect?

India consolidated 29 labour laws into 4 codes: Code on Wages (2019), Industrial Relations Code (2020), Social Security Code (2020), and Occupational Safety, Health & Working Conditions Code (2020). All 4 became effective on November 21, 2025. Final rules are expected by April 1, 2026. PeoplePulse helps industrial clients stay compliant throughout this transition.

How does the new 50% basic pay rule affect my PF and ESIC?

Under the Code on Wages, basic pay must be at least 50% of total remuneration. Allowances exceeding 50% automatically count as “wages” for PF and ESIC calculations. Do I need a separate license for contract labour under the new OSH Code?

What are the penalties for non-compliance under the new Labour Codes?

Penalties range from Rs 10,000 to Rs 10,00,000 depending on the code and offence type. Repeat offences within 5 years can lead to imprisonment of up to 6 months. Typical deployment timelines depend on skill level and volume. For semi-skilled and unskilled workers, we can deploy within 7-15 days. For skilled technical workers (welders, electricians, riggers), timelines range from 15-30 days. Emergency deployments are handled on a case-by-case basis. All workers come with complete PF, ESIC, and compliance documentation.

What compliance documentation comes with deployed manpower?

Every deployment includes: PF registration and filing, ESIC coverage, contract labour license documentation, wage registers, attendance records, and safety induction certificates. Under the new Labour Codes, we also handle the expanded ESIC coverage requirements and the 50% basic pay restructuring.

Do you supply workers for multi-state projects?

Yes. PeoplePulse operates pan-India and manages the compliance complexity of multi-state projects — including state-specific minimum wages, different PF/ESIC thresholds, and varying labour inspector protocols. One partner, one compliance framework, all states.
